Taos Pines Ranch Estates is located on the southwest edge of the spectacular Moreno Valley in Northern New Mexico. It is on the National Scenic Byway known as the Enchanted Circle, which travels through the glorious Sangre de Christo Mountains. Historic Taos, the quaint Hispanic community of Questa and the summer & winter resort town of Red River, Eagle Nest and Angel Fire are located along the Byway. The drive is approximately 90 miles long and offers a variety of scenery, activities and cultures not often found in such close proximity to each other.

Taos Pines Ranch Estates is a private community of mountain lots on Hwy 64's Pala Flechada Pass, which runs between Angel Fire and Taos. It is a developing subdivision of 10 or more acre sel-contained lots. Currently 41 homes have been built or are under construction on the 99 lots. Several lot owners have indicated that they will begin construction within the near future. Some live in their beautiful homes year-round and some come to the mountains whenever they find the chance.

Although we are independent in our property ownership, we do depend upon each other for the enhancement and care of our community. That is the purpose of this website. Jointly we have covenants, which control the uses and quality of our lots. We have roads, which we all use and must maintain. We have other concerns, which we need to be aware of and need to participate in.

We have formed a voluntary Property Owner's Association to work together to improve our community and to give us strength to accomplish goals that would be difficult to obtain as individuals. Through the efforts of the POA we have developed this website. We have become part of a water and forest restoration project conducted by the Cimmarron Watershed District. Six lots have been "restored" to healthy forest conditions as part of that project. Those lots will serve as demonstration lots for other property owners interested in restoring the health and beauty of their properties. Several property owners have already done so. Work is currently underway to thin small diameter trees and underbrush along the upper road lots that are adjacent to the forest area and where property owners have given permission to do so.

The Association was instrumental in getting the Development's "waste lots" donated to Colfax County. The County will begin construction of a fire substation on the lot on the lower road. The Association supports other fire fighting activities and donated $500 to the District 6 County Fire Department to help them equip one of their fire trucks. Taos Pines POA was also represented when the Camino Real Ranger District developed its La Jara Hazardous Fuel Reduction and Restoration Project on forest land which is adjacent to the upper property line of the Development. The POA is currently preparing a Collaborative Forest Restoration Program grant request which will be submitted in March, 2007

The most recent accomplishment of the POA is getting a Firewise Communities USA designation from the National Forest Service. Taos Pines was the first community in northern New Mexico to receive this designation. Through this program, a Community Wildfire Protection Plan has been prepared and property owners will receive education and assistance in becoming Firewise Properties. Several other communities have also received this designation as a result of the Firewise standard we have set. All of these communities have formed the Colfax County Coalition of Firewise Communities.

We hope that this website will provide useful information to you and that you will join the Property Owner's Association. Your membership will support this website and the other activities the POA is engaged in. As an Association member you will be advised of our endeavors and have an opportunity to participate in them.

Welcome to Taos Pines Ranch!
